Radio News RCA Tube Ad: Dec. 1925

Many times better than in 1921, claims this RCA Radiotron advertisement from the December, 1925 Radio News Magazine. In the early days of radio, when receivers were often user-serviced if not home-built, magazines were filled with ads for replacement parts and accessories.

This ad features the UX-201A Radiotron tube. If you can find one of these in working condition today, count yourself lucky. Most modern suppliers don't even list this tube as available—at any price.

A magazine's back cover is prime advertising space. Tube manufacturers bought the Radio News back cover much of the time, although in our 1920s issues, you can also see ads for correspondence courses and parts suppliers.
